Psychiatric treatments are usually of two types: biological and psychotherapeutic.
Biological are those that act in the brain of the patient, at the biochemical level, as is the case if medications and electroconvulsive therapy.
Psychotherapeutic are those where psychotherapy is used to improve the patient’s condition.
