Echography or ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging technique based on the application of ultrasound. Ultrasound imaging uses sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. It is used to help diagnose the causes of pain, swelling and infection in the body’s internal organs and to examine a baby in pregnant women and the brain and hips in infants. It’s also used to help guide biopsies, diagnose heart conditions, and assess damage after a heart attack. Ultrasound is safe, noninvasive, and does not use ionizing radiation. The following can be studied: the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, liver and other organs. The ultrasound does not expose the patient to radiation and during the pregnancy, doctors use the tests to observe the fetus.
Each specialist oversees requesting the necessary exploratory test and refer the patient to the Ultrasound Service.
The ultrasound equipment of Hostafrancs Medical Center is also used by specialists in Gynecology, Obstetrics and Angiology etc.
