Radiography – X-rays

We have a digital radiography service (x-rays or diagnostic imaging) at the Hostafrancs Medical Center.

Among others, you can take X-rays, mammograms and orthopantomography.

What does radiography or x-rays consist of?

It is a form of radiation, such as light or radio waves, this radiation passes through most objects. Said radiation focused on a specific part of the body, passes through it and creates a digital image that is stored electronically.

How is it done?

The professional will instruct the patient to place himself in the most appropriate position to be able to visualize the area to be explored. Once in the correct position, lying on a table or standing, the image will be obtained.

The technician will repeat the procedure as many times as the doctor demands. At the end of the test, they will ask the patient to wait until they can verify that the quality of the images is adequate.

What discomfort can an X-ray cause?

An X-ray usually does not cause any pain. There are tests that include some type of contrast that can be uncomfortable, but not painful (enema, probe or puncture, etc.).

Are there risks linked to the test?

The minimum dose necessary to obtain the images is used in the tests. Radiography could be dangerous for pregnant people due to the risk of the development of the fetus. Therefore, if you think or suspect that you are or may be pregnant, please refrain from performing the test.
