The Hostafrancs Medical Center has a Digestology Service specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases or ailments of the digestive tract (mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine or colon and rectum) , liver and pancreas.

All these organs make up the digestive system, whose primary mission is to promote the orderly progression of food, its digestion and absorption.

The specialist in digestology is also the specialist who deals with the prevention and early detection of any pathology, especially in the case of colorectal cancer.

A digestive disease is any health problem that occurs in the digestive system. Some problems include lactose intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome and cancer etc.

Other digestive diseases include:

• Gallstones, cholecystitis and cholangitis
• Rectal problems, such as anal fissure, hemorrhoids, proctitis and rectal prolapse
