Angiology and vascular surgery

At the Hostafrancs Medical Center we have an Angiology and Vascular Surgery Service for the diagnosis, control and treatment of different diseases of the circulatory system and the lymphatic system.

Specifically this includes the anatomy of blood vessels (the arteries, veins and capillaries) and lymphatics. We also offer vascular check-ups to detect possible risk factors, since an early diagnosis can prevent or slow the progression of the disease.

The Vascular Surgery and Angiology Service of the Hostafrancs Medical Center offers all the scientifically proven techniques that are performed in Spain, in conclusion:

Diagnostics: Colour Doppler ultrasound and continuous Doppler.

Therapeutic: Sclerosis, Classic Surgery and Endovascular Surgery.

Pathologies of circulatory origin can affect arterial, venous or lymphatic levels. In summary, the main complications that can occur at the circulatory level are:

• Varicose veins
• Arteriovenous malformations
• Cerebrovascular disease (stroke)
• Peripheral arterial disease
• Lymphedema

To summarize, varicose veins affect 1 in 2 people over 50 years of age. However, they are more common in women than in men.

Currently Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) affects 5% of the population between 50 and 70 years of age and in fact has a prevalence of over 10% in people over 70 years of age. However, 20% of patients are unaware that they have this disease.
